                         ABSTRACT: Most of the Amazonian campinarana is concentrated in the
                         Pantanal Setentrional, which corresponds to a Quaternary
                         sedimentary basin in the the interfluve of the Negro and Branco
                         Rivers. Recent studies recorded the association of this vegetation
                         with sedimentary depositsrepresentative of a megafansystem. The
                         megafan currently most investigated so faris the Viru{\'a}
                         megafan, located atthe left margin of the Branco River, southeast
                         of the state of Roraima. The main objective of this thesis was to
                         evaluate how the formation of the Viru{\'a} megafan influenced
                         the distribution of forest biodiversity. Specific objectives were:
                         to map in detail the environomental mosaic of the study area
                         applying object-based image analysis (OBIA) and data mining (DM);
                         to evaluate the influence of the megafan in the local and regional
                         diversity based on field inventories and remote sensing data; to
                         evaluate the potential of terrestrial portable LIDAR system data
                         on estimatives of vegetation structure parameters of forest
                         campinaranas; and to integrate remote sensing with carbon isotope
                         data in order to mapgrassland types onthe megafan. The study
                         revealed that optical and radar data are important for mapping the
                         environmental mosaic of megafans, enabling overall accuracy of up
                         to 88\%. The floristic survey showed high diversity, with 362
                         species being documented. However, only 3.3\% arespecies shared
                         between the inner and pouter megafan, indicating that the
                         ombrophilous forest is not the main source of the forest species
                         recorded in the megafan. The portable LIDAR proved to be a quick
                         and inexpensive method in predicting vegetation structure
                         parameters of campinarana vegetation, such astree height, diameter
                         at breast height (DBH) and biomass. Mapping integrating Landsat
                         images and carbon isotopes showed domain of C3 grasses in megafan.
                         The geological and morphological contexts of the Viru{\'a}
                         megafan were main parameters for establishment and maintenance of
                         of its campinarana vegetation cover. The stressful environments
                         imposed by the megafan flooded sandy deposits constitute barriers
                         to the occurrence of ombrophilous forest species, and favor
                         colonization by species not common in the region, increasing
                         species diversity. Internally to megafans, local morphologies
                         representative of depositional sub-environments, such as channels,
                         dikes, overbank sand sheets, bars and dunes, explain the
                         distribution of various campinarana types.",
